MPS Title IX

Sexual harassment is illegal and runs counter to the mission and objectives of Minneapolis Public Schools. Any such action violates the dignity of the individual, as well as the integrity of our learning institutions.

A Title IX violation can be commited by anyone. Moreover, Title IX protects people of all sexes, genders, gender expressions, and sexual orientations.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law prohibiting sexual harassment in educational settings. It states:

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."

Minneapolis Public Schools is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and security of every member of our community. Sexual harassment of any kind is antithetical to this commitment. MPS forbids any form of sexual harassment.
